A freelance photographer and illustrator originally from the Asturian town of Gijón (Spain), Elena currently works for the digital magazine ¡Ah! Magazine and is a collaborator on the blog The Fearless Storyteller.
She served as an Assistant Art Teacher for the Faculty of Education at University of Valladolid on the Segovia and Soria campuses for four semesters (2010-2014).
In 2009 she acquired a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona, specialising in Photography and Drawing. Upon earning an Erasmus Scholarship, she moved to Italy for several months to study at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Frosinone. After, she completed a Master’s in Photography with a focus on concept and creation from the learning centre at EFTI (Centro Internacional de Fotografía y Cine) in Madrid. Later, she studied teaching while completing a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy and Art Education for Social Inclusion with UCM (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), UAM (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) and UVA (Universidad de Valladolid). She did her practical training with Asociación Argadini, through which she worked with the disabled at several museums and exhibition centres, including the Prado Museum, the Reina Sofía Museum and the Fundación Mapfre of Madrid. She presented her thesis on photography and autism.
She has given several photography workshops for youngsters and adults in different spaces, such as the Youth Centre of Soria, Espacio T11 and Icaria Psicología y Espacio Creativo in Madrid.
As a comic colourist she has published “Sporting: the story of a feeling in comic”, published by Real Sporting de Gijón (2009) and ¨El Musel: 1907¨, published by the Port Authority of Gijón (2007).
She worked as the photographer for peSeta’s 2014 summer’s catalogue. peSeta is a clothes, accessories and home wear brand whose products are dreamt, designed and produced in Madrid, Spain. It has also collaborated with other international brands, such as Marc Jacobs.
Her works have appeared in several exhibitions, most notably: “PhotoEspaña´10”, at Sala EFTI in Madrid (2010) and the print exposition “Segni e Colori nella Litografia”, at the Centro per l´Insicione e la Grafica d’Arte di Roma (2011), where her work was acquired.
